Broiled sirloin steaks with mushrooms and Basil Mashed Potatoes

Yes... another night of new recipes, which added up to a delicious dinner!! I went searching for a new recipe to use with sirloin steak and a new way to make mashed potatoes and I found two wonderful recipes in cookbooks that I already had.... Here they are....

1. Broiled Sirloin Steaks with Mushrooms
The recipe....

To start create the rub that goes on both sides of the steak by mixing lime juice, onion powder, garlic powder, ground mustard, and dried oregano. Rub thoroughly on both sides of steak and put on a pan.
Broil for 7 minutes on the first side.
Flip them over and add the mushrooms to the top of each steak. Cook at least 7 more minutes or until desired doneness.

2. Basil Mashed Potatoes
The Recipe...
You can either boil the potatoes or I used a pressure cooker. Place water, potatoes, basil, and salt in pan to cook.

Keep 3/4 of a cup of the potato water for later.
Mash the potatoes and add butter, pepper, and olive oil.
Slowly add the potato water and mix well.
Add the fresh basil to the mashed potatoes and stir when ready to serve.

The finished product...
