Homemade Mac & Cheese for Book Club

The other day Julie and I went and had lunch at Sweet Tomato. We just love their mac & cheese! It is so creamy and delicious. We got to talking about a recipe she has used to make it from scratch. It is from the Pioneer Woman's website- Mac & Cheese. It sounded so delicious that I just had to try it out what night could be better than book club night with my favorite ladies.

The Pioneer Woman's Mac & Cheese:

All of the ingredients.

Shred the cheese.

Melt the butter and add the flour to start making the sauce.
Add the milk.

Add ground mustard and mix well so there are not lumps.

Beat egg in separate containing and slowly add about a 1/4 cup of sauce to the egg--doing it slowly as to not scrabble or cook the egg. When done, add to the sauce and mix well.

Add shredded cheese and stir until smooth.

Once cheese mixture is ready, add macaroni noodles and mix well.

Add a little cheese to the top and pop it in the oven for 20-25 minutes.

It's hot and bubbly and ready to eat!! YUMMY!! We ate it with a fresh salad from our garden.
This turned out so good! I will definitely make this again and maybe change it a little to include different types of cheeses and maybe some chicken or sausage. Lars would definitely like it better if it had some meat of some sort. So let the cooking continue!!!
